Canning Class

Teaching a 'canning class' brought back many memories of the years when I canned so much meat for us to use in our tribal village.

The students in their 2nd year were getting ready to live in 'The Jungle' for a few weeks, so this was a good time to have this class. Several of them later borrowed the jars and canner and prepared many more meals for the upcoming weeks.

The jars are washed and ready for the meat.

Putting the cooked hamburger and chicken into the jars.

A bit of broth has been added to the chicken.

Now adding it to the hamburger.

Now they have been placed in the canner.

The cover has been put in place, so now we can turn the heat on and wait for the right pressure - then turn the timer on for 90 minutes.

It was fun doing it with an enthusatic group of eager learners.
