Wake up call at 6:00 - which basically became the norm – then on to a day exploring Cairo. There was a lot out there to see so we needed to get moving.
FAMOUS HANGING CHURCH – or Suspended Church – dating to the late 4th Century. It was built on top of the South Gate of the Fortress of Babylon. Our arrival happened to be when there was a Greek Orthodox meeting taking place in the Coptic Language.

EGYPTIAN MUSEUM – We enjoyed viewing the greatest collection of Pharaonic treasures in the world. It would take at least a week to see everything in there, but our guide showed us the main things including several mommies, lots of items made from gold, caskets and much more.
We squeezed in a yummy lunch of grilled bass in Egyptian Pita Bread and cooked dates before going on to the -
PYRAMIDS OF GIZA – it was amazing to be standing in front of the Pyramids for picture taking, strolling around them, and exploring the burial chamber with a polished ceiling and pink granite floor.
The stones used to build the Pyramids were HUGE. 
CAMEL RIDE – a once in a lifetime experience! I appreciated the power and beauty of these creatures as we swayed from side to side on his back - getting on and off the camel was also part of the adventure. 
NILE RIVER DINNER CRUISE – the day concluded by enjoying Egyptian cuisine while gliding past Cairo’s illuminated skyline, along the Nile banks. We also enjoyed chatting with a father/daughter team from England, and a Filipino couple who we just happened to sit beside.

this looks like so much fun! Going on a trip like yours is definetely a dream of Erlend and, too, as well as being a cool couple like you when we have our 35th anniversary :-)
Finally just now getting a chance to catch up on your blog...have been looking forward to these pictures and stories for some time now, and I can't wait for them to continue! It's so cool to follow along your trip of a lifetime! (Love how you were seated next to the Filipinos on the cruise! :-))
