Our Nephew's Wedding

When Ragnar first left the Faroe Islands to go to Bible School, John Erik was only 2 years old. I met him when he was 6 and I'll always remember a remark he made during that 1st visit. As an extended family we had watched a short video on Frosty the Snowman which was in English. I thought it was so cute when he asked his mother, "Can Liz REALLY understand that?"

During our various Home Assignments and short visits over the next many years, we saw him grow up, finish school, study engineering, work on ships, teach in a Technical College and go on to be the chief engineer on Board Oil Rigs in Africa.

Now he has met the love of his life and they were going to tie the knot. Their wedding date was set for our only non-booked week end in November. Yea - good timing!! We were so pleased that we would be able to go to that special event, especially since we had missed all of our nieces weddings while in Asia.

We liked to tease them that we accompanied them on their honeymoon, since soon after the reception, we were both on the same flight on our way back to Denmark.

Those few days in the Faroes went by so quickly, but we are thankful for that time with family and seeing how well Ragnar's parents are doing, living on their own at 89 & 93.

Also thankful for an evening meeting in our home church, where we could share about our work and at least have a few hand shakes and 'how are yous' over a cup of coffee afterwards.

Knowing that Christmas was just around the corner, I also took quite a few Christmas cards to work on inbetween visits etc.

Our niece and her husband who have recently moved to Denmark to study, invited us to spend the night with them on our way back. It was just a one hour train ride from Copenhagen. We were so happy to have that time with them, see their new surroundings, be able to attend church with them the following morning, but best of all meet our new little great nephew, Markus, who was just a month old when we were there.
