JJ and Cathy

We were so excited when we received a message from JJ and Cathy a few months ago, telling us that they would like to come for a visit this summer!! Yahoo!! That was something to really look forward to - we miss our fun times together and knew that we would have a blast with them when they arrived. Many years ago, Cathy and I both chose to start on an exciting, adventurous journey when we married Faroese men! I originally met Cathy in Maryland, when we were on our first Home Assignment in 1984. We 'hit it off' right away and since then have become the best of friends. We have shared lots of similar circumstances - marrying men from the Faroe Islands; working in tribal areas in the Philippines; children the same ages - and now we both have a grandson named Noah!!

When we looked at the dates when they could come, we saw they coincided with the dates for Refresher Course, but they were good sports about that and just joined in on all those activities with us.
Cathy and I also managed to take a spin down to a working windmill a few miles down the road. I don't think I have laughed so much in the last decade. It was a riot hanging out with Cathy again!!

Ragnar and JJ (who are also good buddies) went to investigate a Faroese ship that had been brought to our closest town. It had been given to a Museum a few years ago with the goal of having it brought back to its original shape,
but the lack of funds for that project caused that to only be a dream.
The time flew by quickly as we knew it would, but we will treasure those days together for a long , long time. Lots of good old Faroese coffee kept us awake at night for hours of talking, laughing and catching up. We didn't want to waste a minute.

And how could they come to this country and leave without trying a good old English breakfast? So on our way to the train station, where we waved them good bye, we stopped by a Garden Center for eggs, tomato, sausages, beans and toast - and don't forget the coffee!!
