Norwegian Networking

WEEKLY FELLOWSHIP Since there are several Norwegian students here this year they decided to meet as a group once a week. With Ragnar’s knowledge of Danish and Faroese, he understands lots of Norwegian too, so he was invited to join them. Lately I have tagged along too since there are 2 other spouses who don’t speak Norwegian yet.

I set the evening we held the get-together in our home, as my goal for finishing the 2 bibs I wanted to make for the 2 sweet little Norwegian babies born here this year.

NORWEGIAN CONSTITUTION DAY

We loved hearing the stories of how they celebrate Constitution Day in Norway. Even though they couldn’t be marching down the street in a parade or be exempted from classes on their special day, what could stop them from celebrating in the evening?

What better way than getting together for a BBQ, inviting the Niclasens! Norwegian food - Norwegian friends on a Norwegian Holiday - closest thing to being in Norway again.

ROSVIK DAY

Markus & Sarah - Ohhh - so great to see Markus and Sarah in North Cotes. They came here to spend time with the Norwegian students. Since their days were jam-packed, we were thankful that we could squeeze time in with them over breakfast. As we were munching away on an egg casserole, we began naming the countries where we had eaten breakfast together so far - the Philippines, Norway, Spain, Germany and now England and it looks like we’ll add Italy to that in September. The morning flew by so quickly, but we were just so happy for at least that time together. What a sweet couple - we love being with them and look forward to the next time we are together regardless of the geography.　

Erlend & Anne - We had a double date planned one evening in December, just before their wedding. We would go out for dinner at the Millhouse and come back to our home for coffee and opening their wedding gift. Change of plans were necessary when the snow began to pile up that day and the roads were only drifts. The road to our little village (which is often thought of as the end of the world) would not be plowed for a few days. So our date was postponed until now. It was worth the wait though - a lovely evening with a lovely couple. I loved it when she walked in the other night and called ‘we’re home’! What a sweetheart - North Cotes won’t be the same next year without her!!

By the way, I wonder what we were thinking of that day?

Why didn’t we have James and Grete in for lunch???? CONFERENCE GUESTS
With our annual Residential Conference taking place this week-end, guests are starting to arrive. Ragnar met 4 Norwegians at the airport last Saturday. We enjoyed having 2 of these friendly ladies in our home last fall when they were visiting - this time one of them brought her niece and husband.
