Week One

Catch up with Joanne

Since Joanne is a 'Maineiac' and I am a 'Bluenoser', when we are on this side of the pond, it seems like we grew up in each other's back yard.  Besides the fact that we had both recently spent some time in our neck of the woods,  we are both from the North East, both graduated from N.B.B.I. and have both been working here in North Cotes for a few years.  We never run out of things to talk about and love to get together for a powwow when we can fit it in.     

Tea with Katie

 Although most of our students are European, we are pleased to have a few Americans join us each year.  Katie was one of our Volunteers last year and is in Biblical Studies this year.   I'm glad she is still around and some evenings when home work isn't calling too loudly we can enjoy a cup of tea together.

  

Canadian Visitors

 Just to add a bit more N.A. flavour to our week, we had a short visit from 2 Canadians.  These men work at our Headquarters in Canada and were here for a week long Contingency class.  They snuck over for lunch one day in-between meetings.  Always good to get caught up on our Canadian Hub and hear 'out' and 'about' pronounced the proper way!!!

German Friends

Meetings and workshops etc. held here on our campus bring our German friends this way from time to time.  We are glad when they have a free evening and can make their way to our home.   I wonder if it has anything to do with them always bringing along yummy German chocolate?!?!

 Kangaroo Dinner

Another thing checked off our Tastebuds 'wish list'!!  We tried Kangaroo for the 1st time.  It had a unique taste, but something our taste buds quickly took a liking too.  Not only was it fun trying fare from Down Under,  but it was also a new experience cooking our own meat on hot lava rocks.

Michaelas for Lunch

We knew we would be enjoying a great meal when Mikki invited us to join her for her noon meal in her cozy little apartment.  A fun relaxing time with Mikki and Barbara.  Great friends and top-rate German cooks!!  

Open House

It had been quite awhile since our last Saturday Evening Open House, so we loved having a full house that night.  The pleasant evening went by quickly with 54 people coming over at various times - guess it makes sense that every corner was filled.  We missed them during our travels so enjoyed a great catch up evening. 

 

 

  Rushed to Hospital

Around midnight on Saturday, Ragnar felt heavy pain across his chest.  Since it was the week-end, I took him to the Emergency Room in the nearest hospital.  Several tests were done immediately which showed his Troponin levels were raised, so they kept him in over night.  He came home the next day though with medicine, orders to rest, and app. for further testing.
